Vuelve a la Vida • Venezuela’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards starts off as a fun summer-like road trip but then turns into something far more profound and touching. Based on the Hueck siblings’ own experiences, Back to Life takes place in 1996 when, after a year in New York, Ricardo returns to his home in Caracas. His parents surprise him with a welcome party and a promising family vacation, but Ricardo prefers to celebrate his return by traveling with his best friends along the beautiful Venezuelan coast. In the middle of the trip, Ricardo suffers from a strong pain that is diagnosed as leukemia. The prognosis not only changes his life but Ricardo’s relationship with his brother.

SHORT FILM: The Final Memory

La Última Memoria • Mamina, a mother suffering from Alzheimer’s, is in the final stages of her life. The disease has destroyed her short-term memory, a significant portion of her motor skills, and all but one remaining memory: her time with her daughter, Daniela.

Director Felipe Carlos Barandirian is scheduled to attend both screenings.
