The destinies of Laura and Tomás, two young people from different social classes and racial origins, are united by a historical coincidence: they were both born on the same day in 1992 when Hugo Chávez tried to overthrow the presidency of Carlos Andrés Pérez. Their lives have been intertwined as each has borne witness to the many political changes and crises that have shaken the country since then. Using Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” as the narrative template, director Carlos Caridad Montero (“3 Bellezas”) offers a sober, balanced account of a quarter century of Venezuelan politics.

Director and writer Carlos Caridad Montero is scheduled to attend both screenings.
