Estimados Señores • In 1954, a group of women embarked on a battle to bring women’s suffrage to the National Constituent Assembly of Colombia. Through marches, radio appearances, and a brilliant media strategy that placed them on the front pages, they achieved their goal. Even so, Esmeralda Arboleda, one of the country’s first female lawyers, along with other suffragists endured personal attacks from her opponents, but their resilience proved decisive. In her feature film debut, actress, novelist and screenwriter Patricia Castañeda portrays with empathy and courage the uphill battle Arboleda and her peers faced in their struggle against a patriarchal regime.

Director Patricia Castañeda and lead actress Julieth Restrepo are scheduled to attend both screenings.
