Winner of the Audience Award at last year’s Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival, Holguín Caro’s feature debut takes place in a remote Colombian village on the Caribbean coast where electricity has not yet arrived. When Laureana, an Afro-Colombian teen, finds out that her estranged uncle will fight for the world boxing title in Venezuela and that the event will be broadcast live, she moves heaven and earth to convince her community to watch the fight. She also enlists the help of her uncle’s former trainer to train her as a boxer, even though her overprotective grandmother is against it.
