La Invención de las Especies • Twelve-year-old Carla is grieving and speechless when she arrives at the Galapagos Islands with her father, an expert in turtle conservancy. During seven days that evoke those of the Book of Genesis, she explores the island while her father is busy giving lectures. Together with Darwin and Wiki, she discovers secret places and meets Harriet, an old “curandera” who practices the art of healing with stories. Wanting to imitate the iguanas that mutated into sea creatures to survive, Carla takes the persona of “Island” and learns to tell her own story.
