The Dog Thief

El Ladrón de Perros • Set in the Bolivian capital of La Paz, The Dog Thief follows Martin (Franklin Aro), a 13-year-old boy who lives in a house owned by a friend of his recently deceased mother and earns a meager living as a shoeshiner. One of his best clients is Señor Novoa (Alfredo Castro), an elderly tailor who treats his German Shepherd like a son. In need of some cash, Martin agrees to steal Novoa’s dog in exchange for a ransom. But when Martin turns into a surrogate son for Novoa, he will have to choose between accepting his share of the ransom or remain in Novoa’s good graces.
