NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE

Escaping from hunger in 19th century Poland, Rebecca, together with her son Joseph, arrives in Brazil to find her husband who came first to the country in the hope of a better life for the three of them. However, Rebecca finds a completely different reality in Rio de Janeiro when she discovers that he passed away and she ends up as a hostage within a large network of prostitution and trafficking of Jewish women. To escape this exploitation, she will need to betray her own beliefs, forever losing her innocence.

Director João Jardim is scheduled to attend both screenings.
